Dear Members,
With the warmer weather now here outstanding numbers of members of the public
continue to take up the option of Social membership. The weekends are a buzz
with plenty of families and friends enjoying the new facility, offers and entertainment.
Encourage
your guests to join up and be part of something special.
The
Swan Yacht Club is a club that gives
members
and locals access to an involved boating community and the social benefits of a
“river-side lifestyle”.
Around The Club
StaffingSadly, Chef’s Noe and Keith will be leaving the Club in the coming month. Both boys have
been loyal servants of the club over an extended period of time and provided
pivotal support to the rapid development of the Clubs restaurant and management
of the revised kitchen space whilst the club house was under construction.
Separately as mentioned in the Commodore’s report,
Emma Neville and Maddy Davis have left the Swan after a 3 year term. Emma is
off to the east coast to further her education after offering the club and our
member’s outstanding support in the bar. Whilst Maddy commences her new career
as a nurse.
On behalf of the club I wish Noe, Keith, Maddy and
Emma all the best for their future endeavours.
On a couple of positive notes I would like to
officially welcome aboard Tanya Critchley to the role of Food and Beverage
Manager. Tanya brings with her a wealth of industry knowledge with an aim to
continue to enhance the clubs food and beverage hospitality offer. Whilst Greg
Roach joins the team as the club Bosun, replacing Kim Sorrell who will be
committing more time to family and a busy holiday schedule. Greg will be
concentrating to maintain the overall management of busy works program in
company with the Trevor and the team.
The club will shortly confirm the appointment of a
new Head Chef to drive our innovations and mission forward.
Smoking! The Swan Yacht Club is a non-smoking venue. Smoking is not permitted in the licensed areas. Smoking is not only bad
for your health it’s bad for those around you and the environment including the
river system. Ensure you are 5 metre clear of the licenced areas when smoking.
The club has invested in the two cigarette bins at the edge of the limestone
walls and introduced another 2 bins that are fixed to the slipway fence. Please
ensure you dispose of the butts appropriately.
Don't Forget To Book!
Members are reminded to book with reception if they are coming down for dinner. Booking
a reservation assists with catering and minimizes any potential lengthy delays.
At
the same time tables will only be reserved for a maximum of 15 minutes past the
reservation time unless the club is advised of any reasonable delay.
Habitat NYD Garden PartyThe recent Habitat Garden Party was an outstanding event and a credit to all
involved who managed the 1300 strong crowd without incident.
The
event was a clear indication of the club capability to host large scale
financially viable events.
Thank
you to the members who offered their support during the clean up the following
day and to those members who attended the event.
Check
out the clubs
Facebook site for the full set of Garden Party and Club related
event photos.
MarinaThe marina currently sits at capacity with a number of members patiently waiting an
opportunity on the Pen Wait list.
With
a large number of vessels for sale it is expected some will be offered the
opportunity to move in and enjoy the facility in the not too distant future.
Jetty
5 CCTV cameras are now back up and running and as the building works
concentrate on the club surrounds extra parking has been created for trailers
with relevant line marking to be introduced in the coming weeks.
Reminder
to members to contact reception if you have organised a contractor to complete
works of your vessel. Contractors attending unannounced will not be permitted
to enter to marina facility.
Building
The focus for the coming months will be the final
completion of the clubs car parking areas and environmental management
initiatives. Western Power recently introduced an upgrade which saw the club go
without power on Monday and we apologise for the inconvenience this may have
caused to members.
In summary, while the club complete the building
works we will still be offering exciting new initiatives and offers including
Australia Day activities, member’s sundowners and discounted offers. Check out
the recently introduced lounge furniture for the deck area. Get on board and
join us in Bringing Life to the River!
I look forward to seeing you all down at the Swan.
Regards,
Damien Gaspar
General Manager
